300 Prom Night Revelers attended the second “Falmouth Hotel Proms Night” on Sunday 25th August. Spectators arrived armed with their Union Jacks and rugs and the enthusiastic Cornish brought both a Union Jack and a St Piran’s flag.
The 40 strong St Stythians Band were in attendance. To get the best seats Prom Night guests started arriving at 5.30pm. The hotel sold Cornish Pasties and traditional Ales to mark the event.
The evening began with a selection of typical English Sea Shanties. The second half started with the traditional Fantasia of British Sea Songs this as the audience clapped and waved their flags. The band played all the pieces that you would expect from a Proms Night: Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory and of course Rule Britania. The evening concluded with God Save The Queen and our own Cornish Anthem Trelawney.
Listening to this great music and soaking up the fantastic atmosphere on a beautiful August evening and with the backdrop of the sparkling sea was just magical. Not to be missed in 2014!!
