Road

Travel to Cornwall by Road

The M4, M5 and M6 motorways have made travel to Cornwall simple and straightforward, while within Cornwall itself, the two major holiday routes, the A30 and A38 continue to improve, with fast dual carriageways as far as Bodmin, and most of the way to Penzance. The easiest way is to join the M5 which you then follow to Exeter, after which you take either the A30 or A38 into Cornwall, depending on your final destination. For help planning your route to Cornwall visit www.theaa.com and click on the Driving Directions option for a tailor made travel plan or try www.getmethere.co.uk

For information on any possible delays or roadwork's throughout the UK or in Cornwall visit www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews

For visitors using the A30 we have been informed by the Highways Agency that they may incur delays at both Merymeet near Okehampton in Devon and at Indian Queens near Fraddon in Cornwall. These delays are likely to be grater at peak times (i.e. Fridays, Saturdays and Bank Holiday weekends). If at all possible we would advise visitors to consider travelling outside the most congested times which are 0900 – 1800 by either making an early start to their journey or delaying it until later in the day
