Falmouth Beach Guide

Falmouth has some super sandy beaches that are very family friendly.  Whether wanting to stay within walking distance of The hotel or venture a little further afield, take your pick of some The Falmouth's favourites and enjoy a day by the sea.

Castle Beach is opposite The Falmouth hotel and is a sandy strip with rocky outcrops that allow for great exploration of all the rock pools.  Best when tide is out as much of the sand gets swallowed up with the incoming tide.

Gyllyngvase Beach is Falmouth's main beach.  It is a 200 metre stretch of sand with some well explored rock pools at one end. It is close to town so it does get busy. The sea shelves quite steeply so watch children. Its facilities include a cafe/restaurant, lifeguards, lost child centre, deck chair hire and first aid.  It has disabled access and parking is roadside or pay parking.

Maenporth Beach (6 miles from Falmouth) is a drive along B roads so take care on some blind bends. It's a lovely white sandy beach with lifeguard, toilet and cafe facilities.  The sea is gently shelving and there are loads of rock pools so it is great for kids. Do watch the undertow though - best to arrive on a falling tide. It has pay parking.

Swanpool Beach is a nice and not strenuous walk around the headland from Gyllyngvase. It is a pebble beach which may not suit families though it is near to the Swanpool Nature Reserve. Swanpool gets a big thumbs up for windsurfing. The beach has toilet facilities, a cafe/restaurant ( a good one up the hill too) and a children's activity area.

Trefuis Beach is a small, fine white sand beach next to an abandoned quarry. Its outlook is over to Falmouth and it can be reached via ferry from Flushing Quay. It has toilets and a restaurant. Parking is on the roadside.
