Olympic Torch in Falmouth

May 19th will be an historic day for Falmouth, when the Olympic Torch visits the town.

The Olympic Torch lands in Cornwall on the morning of 19th May and will make its way through the county, passing through Falmouth. The town has lots of events planned and car parking will be FREE! Here's a taster of what's on in the town during the day:

• A 15 foot replica flame with transform the National Maritime Museum Cornwall's iconic tower into Falmouth's very own Torch.

• Competitors from the Finn Gold Cup (click HERE) - the final qualifier for the London Olympics - have been invited to stay on in Falmouth, to greet the Torch.

• Falmouth Flame Party Night - a FREE giant party, open to all, on Events Square from 7pm - 11pm, with live music. No tickets needed.

• Superb RNAS Culdrose Sea King helicopter flypast (time to be confirmed)

• Over 30 Cornish gigs will be on display in the water around Custom House Quay - headed up by the 3 oldest gigs in Cornwall (Newquay 1812, Dove 1820 and Treffry 1838 - all built by William Peters at St Mawes)

• Dance, music and photography on Discovery Quay and Events Square

Workshops at The Falmouth

A series of Personal Development Training workshops will be run by specialist trainer, Nicky Pilgrim at The Falmouth Hotel this year. A recent 2 day course on stress management proved popular and so more courses are now planned.

Cornwall Baby Fair

The Cornwall Baby Fair (31st March and 1st April) will be held at the Falmouth Hotel. This is the second annual Cornwall Baby Fair - bigger and better than before! The event opens at 10am and entry is £1 per person. All proceeds go to the Neonatal Unit at Treliske Hospital.

New Yoga Breaks Launched

The Falmouth Hotel has teamed up with yoga experts, Yoga at Work, to offer 2 night Yoga Breaks in Cornwall. Our stunning location provides the perfect backdrop for de-stressing and toning up, whilst enjoying the comfortable surroundings of the hotel.

Newton Faulkner in Falmouth

Fabulously talented songster, Newton Faulkner, is set for a gig at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth on Sunday, 22nd April 2012.

Newton Faulkner makes soulful and heartfelt acoustic blues with a pop edge and a distinctively laid-back style. Hailed by many as the 'next Jack Johnson', his music covers many genres, including folk, blues, soul and country. His 2007 debut album, Hand Built by Robots was a massive success and Newton has gone from strength to strength ever since. He has already played sell out gigs in Cornwall and so we look forward to welcoming him back.

Falmouth Finn Festival

Sailing fans will be delighted to hear that two exciting Finn championships are benig held in Falmouth this year.

First will be the Finn UK Open Nationals, which will be held 4th - 8th May 2012 and then the Finn Gold Cup on 13th - 18th May 2012. Excitement will be running high, particularly at the Finn Gold Cup, which is not only the annual World Championship for this dinghy class but will also be a qualifier for this year's Olympic Games.

Falmouth Spring Festival

The Falmouth Spring Festival (17th - 25th March) is back for 2012! This massively popular event focuses on celebrating the fabulous open spaces, gardens and scenery around Falmouth.

It will take place at various venues in the town - just a brisk stroll from The Falmouth - and surrounding areas. It will include events, walks, talks, exhibitions and performances, together with other planned activities.
